A Personal Journey: Working with Virtual Assistants

I have worked as a marketing generalist for over a decade and have jumped through all the hoops and challenges in large corporations. I never thought I would require assistance until marketing became complex.

Reality or Sanity Check!

Let us get real here for a minute – marketing is a forever-changing and challenging landscape. The assumption was that a marketing manager is a content manager, a web developer, a graphic designer, a social media manager, a community manager, a PR and communications specialist, and the list of responsibilities continues to grow. You need to be on the ball and keep your finger on the pulse to succeed in a competitive landscape and with competition increasing – you have your work cut out for you.

The Heros Come to Save The Day!

I was introduced to Virtual PA Studio (VPA) through a mutual friend just as COVID hit in 2020. I worked for a business coaching consultancy and had to do marketing, client retention, projects, operations, and business development for the franchise. I was working sixteen-hour days trying to keep my head above water! The world was embracing digital marketing and social media during lockdown, and I needed quick to long-term fixes as time was of the essence. I needed to prioritise and focus on critical elements, outsource design work, and web development.

So, while I ran webinars on digital footprint audits, SEO, SEM, marketing strategies, and campaigns, I leaned on the lovely ladies from VPA to assist with my workload and was so impressed with the quality and service efficiency that I began recommending their services to various individuals in my network who needed a cost-effective solution to suit their budget and improve their business operations.

I reckon VPA contributed to helping SME’s survive given limited budgets and shortened timelines during that very dark period.

Fast forward to the present day, I moved into the software and engineering industries and needed assistance with corporate rebranding and new websites so I could work on multiple products, service portfolios, and projects. The companies were introduced to VPA to assist with various initiatives and ensure business success!

Lessons Learnt So Far.

Collaborating with virtual assistants has been life-changing, not only from a business perspective. The biggest bonus is having quality time to spend with loved ones and to study further.

An obstacle to overcome is knowing that you are not inadequate in your job or a failure if you have a virtual assistant – you are working smarter, so adapt your thinking, trust the process, and embrace change!
