Illuminating the Future: How Roisin's Vision is Shaping Virtual Assistance.

In the ever-evolving world of virtual assistance, few stories shine as brightly as that of Roisin Gregory, a distinguished leader whose journey from a successful HR career to co-founding VPA in Cape Town offers inspiration and insight. With a decade of experience in human resources at renowned global firms and a deep-rooted passion for coaching and yoga, she has masterfully blended her diverse skills to create a virtual assistance business that embodies professional excellence and personal empathy.

Her approach resonates with Mary Anne Radmacher’s profound observation: “As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way.” This principle not only underscores her mission but also illuminates her path to purpose and fulfilment.

Tell us a bit about your professional background.

I am a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation with a background in HR. I spent over ten years working in the HR field for global corporate companies, including management consulting with PwC and HR Manager for a large pensions and employment benefits consultancy in London.

I started VPA with Storm, after working in the Virtual Assistant arena for three years. I am also enthusiastic about teaching yoga and using my coaching training in all aspects of my life. My varied work experience helps me understand the strains and pressures that life presents, and I feel compelled to support others navigate these difficulties from a holistic, integrated, and compassionate stance.

Where are you based, and what do you do now?

I am based in Cape Town and dedicate my time to cultivating companionate, wholehearted living for myself and others in whatever capacity I can. Life can be hard, but I aim to support others to rediscover their sense of self, harmonise their lives, and recharge their energy so they can be present with themselves and their loved ones at home, all while excelling in their career ambitions.

What inspired you to start VPA?

I am grateful to Storm for starting this business alongside me. She is a ray of light in this world who lights up people when she interacts with them, always listening to people’s needs and sourcing new ways to support them. Collaborating with her is a pleasure and a privilege.

My experience starting as a VA ignited my passion and desire to start a VPA business where women support and uplift women in the working environment.

What are some highlights or success stories from your journey?

A particular highlight that stands out is getting to know and work with interesting and varied individuals and industries. Every client I have worked with and supported has taught me something new, and the joy of helping their business grow is rewarding.

Alongside this, I take an immense amount of joy in supporting the people who work for us and seeing them grow in knowledge and confidence

Are there any challenges in the industry?

The competitive nature of the VA business and the worldwide desire to drive down business costs can make growing a business like ours challenging. Whilst hiring a VPA is seen as a cost-effective means to help scale and grow your business, it can also mean people want to pay extraordinarily little for a professional service.

In today’s competitive market, paying your VA the right rate can make all the difference in the success of your business. There are multiple business and ethical benefits to paying your virtual assistant fairly. Getting this price point right is paramount for both the success of our clients and our VAs.

What is your vision for the future of VPA?

With its widespread presence, some believe the market for virtual assistants has reached its saturation point. However, this is far from the truth. The demand for virtual assistants is steadily growing. It is positive news for us and our corporate growth strategy: to continue to grow organically while preserving our core values and the ethical essence at the heart of our business.

What trends are you seeing in virtual assistance?

One of the most compelling trends is Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration with Virtual Assistant roles. By leveraging AI, we envision our VAs offering a deeper, more personalised level of interaction.

Share a fun fact about yourself that not many people know.

In 2013, I completed Iron Man SA in Port Elizabeth in a time of 12 hours 43 minutes, this took an immense amount of dedication, determination, and training, and I am proud of this accomplishment.

The future of virtual assistance is set to be shaped by technological advancements and a growing need for adaptable support solutions. Roisin’s perspective on integrating AI and maintaining a compassionate approach underscores the importance of balancing innovation with human connection. As VPA moves forward, her vision and values will continue to shape a future where clients and team members can thrive. Roisin’s story is a testament to the transformative power of leadership that combines empathy with expertise, proving that true fulfillment comes from guiding others and growing oneself.
